3 ingredient Rice Krispie Recipe

How many of you mamas have kiddos who love rice krispie treats? Now, how many of you mamas love rice krispie treats yourself? (I’m raising my hand). Ever since RJ was in school I’ve packed the kids rice krispies in their lunch just about everyday. It’s one of their favorite snacks!
One night while I was reaching into the rice krispie box I realized there was no more (like who leaves an empty box? Oh yeah..my husband and 6 year old). I would be crazy to send my husband out to target at 10pm just for that (unless he’s the one who ate the last one lol), so I was like….”I’m just going to make some”. Thankfully I had all the ingredients for it, which was a shocker because I always have to run to the store for something, and I’m not the type to ask my neighbors lol. So anyways, I looked up a recipe on google, and found one that looked fool proof. As I was making it, I kind of just did my own thing and created my own recipe with my own measurements.
There are other recipes that are gooey and soft. But the kind of rice krispie I wanted to create was exactly like the kind I’d buy in the store so my kids wont notice a difference.
Enough of my rambling, here is the recipe:
Quick and Easy Rice Krispie Treats
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter if using unsalted butter, add a pinch of salt to the recipe
- 4 cups mini marshmallows
- 4 cups rice crispy cereal
Tools
- 1 9x13 glass dish
- parchment paper
- sprinkles optional
Instructions
- Melt half a stick of butter (1/4 cup) into a medium size pot on medium heat. This step will take about 3 minutes.
- Once melted, add in 4 cups of mini marshmallow, and mix until smooth. If you need to, use the back side of spoon to press on the marshmallows. This step will take about 3-4 minutes.

- Once all mixed and melted together, take pot off the heat and stir in 4 cups of rice crispies

- Once everything is evenly coated, pour mixture into a pan thats lined with parchment paper.

- Evenly spread the mixture throughout and flatten with parchment paper. If you decide to add sprinkles: Do it now, and make sure you press the sprinkles in with the parchment paper!

- Allow 15 minutes for the mixture to cool before cutting. Once cooled, use a pizza cutter (or a fun shaped cookie cutter) to cut the rice crispies into squares.

Notes
So all of this can be made for less than $3 a serving with ingredients you probably already have in the pantry! If not, you’ll probably spend about $7 buying it all, but you’ll be able to make several batches! if you liked this post, make sure you pin it on pinterest!
