My Summer Reads with The Amazon Kindle
Thank you Amazon for sponsoring this post. Where will adventure take you and your Kindle device this summer?

Kids home for the summer and summer reading for myself, seems like a hypocritical sentence. How can I possibly get any reading done while the kiddos are home for the summer? Well, this summer we have like 3 beach trips planned in just the month of June alone, and instead of lounging by the pool or beach, aimlessly scrolling through social media, my plan is to read 5 books by the end of the summer. Everyone deserves a little “me time” especially when you’re a parent.
Before I share my 5 books, I want to start off by saying I will be reading these books on my Kindle. Because we will be constantly on the go, it’s much easier to just read my books, order new books, and even sample books on my Kindle. What I love about my Kindle is that it’s an affordable e-reader with a front light, for less than $100! It comes with an built-in adjustable front light so you can comfortably read in daylight (that’s a must for me because we’ll be in the sun a lot and I don’t have to worry about a screen glare), and at nighttime without straining your eyes. It’s super slim and light, so it can easily fit in any beach bag, diaper bag or even clutch!
Why Kindle? Everyone has their own preference, and they have every right to it, but for me personally, I don’t have to worry about one of my kiddos tearing out a page from my book, or a book going missing. If I want to flip flop between a self-help book or a romantic novel, I can do that within seconds without worrying if I packed the book or not. There millions of titles literally at your fingertips. Upon receiving my Kindle, I immediately downloaded 5 books (in under 2 minutes), and I didn’t have to drive to a bookstore or wait for them to be delivered. WINNING! So anyways, These are 5 books I’ve been wanting to read, and my goal is to read by the end of summer.

5 books you should totally download on your Kindle this summer:

- Becoming- By Michelle Obama: I just love Former First Lady Michelle Obama. Her poise and charisma alone is one of her most beautiful characteristics. In her memoir, she shares her life and experiences from growing up on the South Side of Chicago, to her years as a mother and executive, to life in the White House. Mrs. Obama shares her trials and tribulations both personally and professionally, and how she overcame them. ‘Warm, wise, and revelatory, Becoming is the deeply personal reckoning of a woman of soul and substance who has steadily defied expectations—and whose story inspires us to do the same.’
- The Rumor- By Lesley Kara: To all my suspense lovers, here’s one for ya! “When a single mother hears a shocking rumor outside her son’s school, she never intends to pass it on. But one casual comment leads to another . . . and now there’s no going back. Rumor has it that a notorious killer, who committed a brutal crime as a child, has been living a new life under an assumed identity in Joanna’s seaside town. So who is the criminal hidden in their midst? Suspicion falls on everyone.
As Joanna becomes obsessed with the case, her curiosity will expose her son and his father to the supposedly reformed murderer—who may be ready to kill again. She will learn how dangerous one rumor can become . . . and just how far she must go to protect those she loves. She is going to regret the day she ever said a word.” - Rest Of The Story- By Sarah Dessen: This is a Family Romance type of novel. “From #1 New York Times bestselling author Sarah Dessen comes a big-hearted, sweeping novel about a girl who reconnects with a part of her family she hadn’t seen since she was a little girl—and falls in love, all over the course of a magical summer”
- Girl, Stop Apologizing- Rachel Hollis: I’ve already started this one and I love it so far. I read her previous book, “Girl, wash your face” and it was so good and motivating, I knew I had to read this one. This one is another motivational book empowering women to unlock their fullest potential and stop fearing failure, laughter and criticism, common things that hold someone back from chasing their dreams.
- Own your Everyday- By Jordan Lee Dooley: Another self-help/motivational book, but come on, they’re soooo good. This one was recommended to me by a few friends, and what I love about it is that it talks about finding your purpose, and the pressures of impressing other people along the way, and not truly living for yourself.

So this was my summer reading list! I encourage you to put the phone down too, and pick up a book (or Kindle) and read! If you have your own summer reading list or a book suggestion, please share in the comments.
