Can you believe It’s already the end of the year? That means it’s basically thanksgiving, tomorrow is Christmas and the following day is Valentine’s Day. Okay, I’m being a little dramatic, but seriously this year has flown by. But the holidays really snuck up on us super quick, and it’s already that time to be planning holiday parties, trips to your cousin’s house who is out of state, or driving to 4 different thanksgivings because you can’t say no.
This month we have a 9-day cruise planned that leaves out of Miami-which is 4 hours away from me. We have to drive to 3 different Thanksgiving dinners-thankfully all in the same area of town. And this doesn’t even cover all the back and forth driving of Christmas gift shopping.
So, with all of this going on, your car must be prepared for the most wonderful (and busiest) time of year.

How to Prepare your Car for the Holidays:
So, I made it pretty clear above, but your car will take the biggest beating this holiday season between countless trips to the store, hauling a Christmas tree, and driving through neighborhoods to see Christmas lights. Whether you’re driving locally or across the country, you got to handle your car’s business before you’re too busy.
We took our car to Jiffy Lube last weekend to get our oil changed, and to have a full inspection completed. We always try to stay on top of this, but our next oil change was due in the middle of November and decided to have it done a little early because of all the holiday activities we have going on this month.
When we arrived at Jiffy Lube, we were surprised how quick they took our car back (on a Saturday too) and was able to complete everything. I honestly think our total time spent there was just under 30 minutes. We had all 4 kids with us, so we were a little nervous about timing, but they were so quick, and the kids were fascinated by the mechanics working on our car, the time just flew by. We now know that Jiffy Lube is the way to go for a quick, but thorough car service job.
Things that the Experts from Jiffy Lube recommends to help shake your car’s Winter Blues

- Engine Oil: We had this changed, and a good rule of thumb is having this changed!
- Engine & Cabin Air Filters: A clean air filer helps the engine combust an optimal air-to-fuel mixture, making it run more smoothly and efficiently.
- Engine Coolant, Transmission & Other Fluids: Your engine produces plenty of heat that must be dissipated. A fresh and proper mixture of engine coolant and water is critical to that process
- Windshield Wiper Blades & Washer Fluid: This is something you probably don’t ever think about until you’re in bad weather and need them. Wipers should be replaced yearly, but if you live in Florida-where it rains ALL THE TIME, you’ll probably need to change them out every 6 months.
- Air Conditioning: Winter in the south means that your car A/C needs to be up to par at all times. But if you’re in other parts of the U.S where you have actual winter weather, you are still going to want to make sure your A/C is running good for when it starts to warm up.
- Belts & Hoses: Before hitting the road, inspect your vehicle’s hoses and belts to make sure they are not cracked, swollen or worn. Twist each belt to get a clear look at its top, sides, and bottom. Check for cracks, splits, missing chunks, peeling, and oil on the belt.
All of those things are checked during your full inspection at Jiffy Lube. Thankful our car checks off, so all we needed to do was an oil change. But now we know that Jiffy Lube is our new go-to spot for oil changes for the quick and amazing service we received!
