Our Experience With Merry Maids

I thought I knew how to clean my house, until Merry Maids showed up and redefined clean.
Disclosure: I received payment and services from Merry Maids in exchange for an honest review. I would never share something I don’t love, so this review is 100% honest and my own.
About a month ago, the owner of my Merry Maids of Seminole County came to my house for a little “house interview” (that’s what I call it) that was extremely informative! She basically asked me what’s most important to us in our home, what areas we use the most, and what we expect from them, and a little about the Merry Maidsbrand. .
I walked her through my house, room-by-room explaining the different wants and needs of every room. Throughout the entire process, she notated what they would do and what kind of products they would use. After we were done walking the house, we sat down and she explained everything to me. She explained how long it would take, give or take. And more about the hiring process for her employees. Every team member is drug tested and background checked, so only the best and most qualified individuals are in your home and around your family. She also made it clear that all Merry Maids team members are expertly trained and even insured.
That’s what’s different about hiring professionals, rather than anyone else, is that if they break something, or they’re injured on the job on your property, their own insurance handles it all. No crazy financial burdens will be put on you. After becoming a homeowner, those types of things are so important to consider when hiring a cleaning company.
She also explained to me how much all of their services will cost, and the cost for my entire house to receive a deep clean.
Once the consultation was done, we agreed on a date and that was it! Super easy. My husband and I chose the Tuesday after my son’s birthday party. As much as we wanted a spotless house before guests, we knew we wanted it spic and span for US to enjoy afterwards. C’mon, no one likes cleaning after a party, especially the floors. Having 4 little ones, one of which being a 9-month-old who is starting to crawl, a sanitized floor is everything to us.
Cleaning Day with Merry Maids:

Prior to their arrival, we pulled all the sheets off the bed and washed them. That way when they came and cleaned the rooms, they could just put the clean sheets on. We also put away/threw away all the crap on our dresser, bathroom counters and kitchen counters. We had a lot of junk, so this was perfect for us.
When the 2 Merry Maids team members showed up, they introduced themselves to myself, my husband and the kids, oh yeah- and Meeko too. She asked me what part of the house should they start on and I said the bedrooms, that way once they finish the rooms I could put the kids down for their nap, while they clean the rest of the house (and be out of the way).
They started in our bedroom, one tackled our bathroom, while the other cleaned our room. After our bedroom they moved on to the kids’ room and the hallway bath. Once they were done there, it was on to Laila’s room and the hallway. They literally scrubbed all of our doors, door frames and baseboards, it looks like we just painted them. They must have sprinkled some magical cleaning dust on them because they look brand new!
They then moved on to our living room/entryway and dining room. We have a huge wood dining table, and they resealed the wood with a lemongrass oil-something like that. And the wood looks like the day I bought it. In the living room, they moved the couches and took them apart to thoroughly clean behind it, and within it. They then moved on to the kitchen and family room. In the kitchen they got on top of the fridge to clean spots we would’ve never thought to clean. Our Quartz counters look like the day they were installed, and they even got out a few tricky food stains on the wall by Joel’s highchair. Speaking of high chair, they cleaned his high chair too! Lastly, in the family room they did the basic dusting, vacuuming of the rug and sofa! And just before they walked out and said goodbye, they scrubbed our front door–in and out!
I promise you, this is the CLEANEST I’ve ever seen my house…EVER!!! My husband and I spent the rest of the evening talking about how clean it was. He was laying on the couch and looked up at the fan and said “there were some dust marks on the fan that were stuck, AND THEY GOT IT OFF!!”
Here are some FAQs on our Merry Maids cleaning services:
The put a freaking sticker on my toilet paper! Talk about attention to detail! How long did it take?:5 hours. This was a deep deep clean with 2 ladies working. We don’t live in a big house, but we’ve also never had our house deep cleaned ever, so they had their work cut out for them.
Did we clean beforehand?:No and yes! We picked up things that would be in their way. But we didn’t clean!
Did we have to leave the house?:No. We could’ve if we wanted to, but I honestly had nowhere to go. It’s too hot for the park. We just moved around them. We didn’t go into a room that they were in.
Do they bring their own products?: Yes they do! They didn’t use anything that was ours. Their own vacuum, spray, rags, EVERYTHING!
Did it really make a difference?: Heck yeah it did! I thought our house was clean, until they came and cleaned it. Now I’m wondering how we lived in filth for so long lol.
What other services do they offer?:

What would I recommend for the first time?I highly recommend the detailed cleaning. That’s the one we got. They get all the nooks and crannies. No detail is skipped over! And after the detail cleaned, you can schedule a weekly, biweekly, monthly or whatever best fits your needs and your schedule.
Are we going to continue with services? We want to! After seeing how clean our house was and over 10 hours worth of work done by 2 people in 5 hours, I was able to play with the kids, relax and not stress about cleaning. They did the dirty work while I enjoyed my house and kids. I was able to make more time for what matters more.
Is it worth it?101% YES! I was curious about the prices, but I understand now. It’s a lot of work, and they do it right. Maybe you could find cheaper, but are they licensed, bonded and insured? Are they all background checked? These Merry Maids team members are in YOUR home around YOUR kids, so you’re going to want only the best
If you had to pick the best times to get a deep clean are, when would it be? 1. in the summer when you’re busy traveling, or the kids are home so there just isn’t time to deep clean. This is a time people let their houses go. 2. Right before the holidays. 3. After the holidays, so maybe January/Februsry-ish time. Merry Maids does recommend regular cleanings to keep your home clean year-round!

Here are some Before and Afters
These photos are straight from my camera, no editing done whatsoever. I want you to REALLY see the raw before and after difference! Also, don’t judge on how dirty my house is. Summer is chaos over here.
My bedroom: Everything is dusted, the carpet is so clean, and it just looks so polished and put together.
The Kids’ bedroom: Again, dusted and organized. They pulled out all their books and reorganized them
Living Room: She moved the couch out and cleaned behind, and under the couch. She also took the cushions out and cleaned the couch thoroughly. All the baseboards were cleaned as well!
Dining Room: Same as all the other rooms, but they also treated the wood on our table, and took everything off the shelves and cleaned them.
So yep, that’s it! I’m now a firm believer in getting your house professionally cleaned, especially if you have little ones. The time I would’ve spent cleaning my house properly, I got to enjoy my kiddos. I highly encourage you to call your local Merry Maids and request a free quote, and tell them your favorite blogger Aseky from Aseky + Co. sent ya!
