Disney Villains After Hours With Kids

Want to take a walk on the vile side? You do? Alright, bring 4 little ones ages 6 and under, to Disney’s Villains After Hours until 1 in the morning. Yep, we did that! And guess what? My kids had an absolute blast, and so did we. Thank you Walt Disney World for inviting my family and I to this diabolical event. I’m going to share all the details on Disney’s newest night time event, how we liked it, and if we’d ever do it again with 4 little ones.

About Disney Villains After Hours:

This summer, Magic Kingdom park presents Disney Villains After Hours, a separately ticketed, special nighttime event showcasing some of Disney’s best-loved baddies! Disney Villains After Hours lets a limited number of Guests experience the park for an additional 3 hours after it closes, with low wait times at more than 20 classic attractions—including Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Space Mountain and more. Plus, event tickets provide access to themed cuisine, photo ops, merchandise, entertainment and park entry as early as 7:00 PM.

So whether you’re already devilishly divine or just dipping a toe into the dark side, indulge your inner villain at this sinister soiree. But hurry, ticket availability is limited—choose from 10 nights of incredible mischief you’ll never forget!- From Their site

What To Expect:

When you arrive to Magic Kingdom, you’re going to check in all the way to the right, where you will see a sign that says “Villains After Hours Check in”, that way you can get your wristband. That wristband is what allows you to stay in the park from 10pm until 1am, and get you all your awesome freebies, so don’t take it off! Once you make it in, you will also get a map that will give you all the show times, food and drink menu, and location of all the rides.

When you go in, You’ll notice the park is still crowded, like any normal Disney day. However, after 10pm expect the regular crowds to disappear, and all the Villains will appear. From 10pm on, it’s only Villains after hours ticketed guests there.

How much does Disney Villains After Hours cost?:

$139- per event ticket when purchased in advance

$144- per event ticket when purchased at the gate

*if you’re an annual passholder, you are able to get a discount!

What does my admission include?:

• Unlimited (as in FREE) popcorn, Ice Cream (yes the Mickey bars too!) and select beverages (bottled sprite, coke, and water)
• 3 hours of access to over 20 popular Magic Kingdom attractions with low wait times (everything was under 10 minutes!) with thrilling villain-inspired surprises at Pirates of the Caribbean and Space Mountain. RJ rode space mountain for the first time and it was PITCH BLACK with spooky music playing, and he wasn’t even scared. What a rockstar!
• Villains Unite the Night, an all-new, 20-plus minute stage show starring Hades, Meg, The Queen, Maleficent, Jafar and other hilarious hoodlums,at Cinderella Castle (which is decorated for the event)
• Watch Maleficent, the fire breathing dragon make her way through frontier-land!
• You are able to dress your diabolical best, yes, costumes, friends! I decided not to wear a costume, instead I wore a villains shirt.
• Villain-themed food and beverage offerings available for purchase, including brand-new items and returning favorites such as Evil Emperor Zurg’s Noodles (I had this!) and Yzma’s llama potion (also had this, and it was soo good!)

What time is the event?:

The event officially starts at 10pm, but you can arrive as early as 7pm. And it ends at 1am.

My Review of Disney Villain After Hours:

In the evening=Not hot

We absolutely loved it! My opinion is pretty biased because I am obsessed with ANYTHING Disney does. But this event was truly a great time. Florida is hot, especially in the summer, so going to the parks during the day when temps are in the 100s is rough. So going to Magic Kingdom in the evening when it was cool, was a nice change.

Less People=Shorter wait times

We also loved that the wait times were no more than 10 minutes. RJ and I rode space mountain, and hopped on the ride in under 10 minutes, that’s unheard of. My husband went on thunder mountain with Elias and RJ and again, 10 minute wait. We also went on the Buzz lightyear ride, Monster’s Inc, Winnie the Pooh, Little Mermaid, Teacups and The Barnstormer and waited no more than 5 minutes. For these type of events, you don’t need a fastpass because there are fewer people in the park, therefore less waiting.

Disney Themed events=Disney themed food

My husband and I are big Disney foodies. We are obsessed with the Food & Wine Festival and Flower & Garden Festival, simply because of the fun and different food Disney is offering. When we checked out the food that would be offered at Disney Villains After Hours, we got so giddy! There are so many different things to try, but we ended up sharing the Evil Emperor Zurg’s Noodles and Yzma’s llama potion. The Noddles are served cold, and they’re purple!!! Also they had onions and other yummy things inside of it. Yzma’s llama potion reminded me of a Shirley temple, but it was bubbling. I’m not really sure how they made it bubble, but it’s definitely an Instagram worthy drink. No seriously, I sat there and people watched, and watched people buy their drink and immediately pull their phone out to make a boomerang of the concoction, I’m one of those people.

Beautifully Decorated

Disney always does an amazing job decorating and making you really feel like you’re there. From the spooky music playing in the background, to the themed rides, to the DJ dance party right at the castle.

The kids LOVED it:

So we are crazy to take our kid out super late, and keep them out till basically 2 in the morning, but it’s summer break! Why not? The way I look at it, we are going to take them to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, which is geared for little ones. And that event runs until 12am, so what’s different about this? We just put them down for a late nap that day, fed them dinner before we went and they were good. Because Disney was offering free popcorn and ice cream, we fed them through any tantrums lol. Right when I thought my 2 year old was going to flip on me “wanna mickey bar?”, tears were gone! Honestly though, it was a great time with our kids. This is definitely an event i’d go with just my husband next time, but i’d have NO PROBLEM bringing the kids along too, they had an absolute blast, and they’re so tired from the event that i’m able to write all of this while they nap, so win-win.

We truly had an awesome time, and I recommend attending this event before it’s gone. You and your family will have an amazing time, and don’t be scared to bring the kiddos along. Unlimited Mickey Bars and popcorn is calling their name!
