Holidays at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

This past weekend, we made a quick trip up to our favorite place, Disney World! But this time it was to Animal Kingdom to view all of their holiday decor. Yep, you heard that right, Animal Kingdom is now a Disney Park that you can view and expereince the Magic of Disney Christmas. If you’ve never experienced Disney Christmas, it truly is the most magical thing ever. As a child, we would do a HUGE family trip to Disney, like all my uncles, aunts, cousins, grandparents, EVERYONE for Christmas time. And to this day, those are my favorite family memories. So being able to do the same for our kids is everything.

So with all that being said, we were SO excited to check out Animal kingdom and see all their Christmas decorations. If you’re not familiar with Animal Kingdom, the entire park is divided into different countries, and worlds- Discovery Island, Pandora, Dino-land, Asia, Africa. It was so fun to see the different lands, decorated accordingly! It was a mixture of their culture, with western holiday traditions.

So upon arrival at Animal Kingdom, this is what you can expect:

• It is NOT a special ticketed event. Starting November 8th, with your regular park admission, you can experience all of this, every single night!
• Huge Christmas Tree at the entrance of Animal Kingdom, where you purchase tickets. This is a great photo spot!
• Discovery Island: You will quickly notice the beautiful and whimsical Christmas decor all throughout. During the day time, be on the look out for artisan-sculpted animal puppets—including a Merry Menagerie of reindeer, foxes and polar bears. And at night, colorful rooftop luminaries and bird lanterns light up the sky. Also right in the center of Discovery Island, you will have the perfect view of the new light show on the Tree of Life, was it awakens.

• Africa: In the village of Harambe, you’ll be welcomed by a cheerful presentation that blends the inspiration and style of Western traditions with the colors and textiles of authentic African celebrations. You can also find hand crafted items that you can bring home as a souvenir, along with lively music with live performers! Check it out in my stories,

• Asia: Take in the glowing flowers, lanterns and more in Anandapur, where residents have decorated the theater district in celebration of Diwali––the festival of lights in India.
• Pandora – The World of Avatar: The expats living and working on this marvelous moon have brought a little Christmastime excitement to their alien home! At Pongu Pongu, discover a display of kitschy décor that combines vintage pieces from Earth with items handcrafted from materials indigenous to Pandora.

Also, don’t forget to get some custom Christmas Ornaments

You can have your family’s name put on your ornament right in front of you within minutes. Every year we get a family ornament, and we will definitely hbe coming back to this spot to get this years’ ornament.
