Mom Fail Monday 01-22

We’ve all had those moments, when we were honestly trying and just fail instead. Whether it was putting your glass of water in the bottle warmer instead of your child’s bottle, or changing your baby’s diaper and forgetting to put a diaper back on. We’ve all been there and some moments are more embarrassing than others. Some we share with everyone, and some we just want to erase from our memory. Some we laugh about, some take us 5 years to laugh about.

Every other Monday, I’ll be sharing my mom fails, and some funny and embarrassing mom fails of some other Mamas. I want it to be something we can all read, relate to, and just laugh at. Let’s celebrate the not so glamorous moments in motherhood!

So put Little Einstein’s on, reheat your coffee, sit back and enjoy!

When my middle child was only 1 month old, I decided to go to target for the first time by myself as a mom of 2 (now I have three and I didn’t realize how easy I had it), but when we were leaving target it had just started to rain! I was in the middle of the parking lot pushing my big ole’ red cart, with my 1 month in the basket and my 2 year old in the seat part, and it started to pour. So I ran to my SUV as fast as I could, and opened up one door (the baby’s side) and told RJ to climb under, and into his seat. So I clicked the car seat in, and RJ crawled into his seat ( on the other side of the car). I put my cart back into the cart return (I know, its raining, the cart return should be the last of my worries but returning carts is a pet peeve of mine. I hate when people don’t do it lol), but I run back into my car and caught my breath. I start driving home, and once we make it about 5 minutes from home, RJ pops his head up in the front seat and said “hi mommy”. I instantly yell out “OH MY GOSH!!!”, I forgot to strap him into his seat when he crawled into the car. I instantly pull into the Walgreens parking lot and strap him in. I was literally beating myself up for that for months!!! Now I laugh about it, because he was so innocent and quietly sat in his car seat NOT strapped and then decided to say hi to his mommy. For the record, that was the FIRST and LAST time that ever happened…and of course it was when I embarked on my first journey by myself as a mom of two! #momfail

When my daughter was in about 6th grade, I was at the height of my career with my last company, always go-go-go! Averi went to private school and their calenders always had weird days off, so one day we got up and dressed like normal. She was in hockey, so it was a day she has to wear her jersey and bring her equipment. We got to the school, I almost let her out of the car, looked up and there was no school that day. She had to come to work with me. So embarrassing. #momfail

When my first daughter was 10 months old, my husband was traveling for a few days and I was home alone with her for the first time. I had to do the dreaded job of taking out the trash. Being the overprotective mom that I am, I decided to leave her inside the house for a minute, while I took out the trash and locked the door behind me to make sure no “bad guys” could sneak in the house while I took the trash to the curb. Unfortunately, I grabbed our mailbox key instead of the house key and was locked out of my house with the baby inside. Luckily I had my phone in my pocket and called 911 immediately. And the baby was great and came to the window in her walker when I called her and stayed there in my sight the whole time! The police came within 2 minutes (felt like 2 hours!) and had to break into the house. I felt like the worst mom ever and was scared the police were going to question my parenting skills – luckily they didn’t judge me at all and didn’t question! #momfail

One time I sent my son to school in crazy socks and apparently I made that up because crazy sock day wasn’t even a day at his school. hahaha #momfail

One time I accidently left a wipe with poopy on it in his diaper (the poop was on the diaper side. Not on his butt). I kept wondering why he smelled like poop but hadn’t pooped…it had been a long day! #momfail
