Wild Florida: Orlando Drive-Thru Safari
My kids are super social, they enjoy being around other kids and just being outside of the house. Our normal weekend activities involve Disney World, Disney Springs, going to the mall, playgrounds and playing at the gym daycare. Since the virus, and basically the entire world going into quarantine, we have been forced to distance ourselves from other people. As busy bodies who are constantly on the go, it sucks.
But one day while aimlessly scrolling through Instagram, I came across an account called “Wild Florida” who marketed themselves as a drive-thru safari. Never heard of this until then, and knew this was something we had to do with the kids since it didn’t involve social interactions, and we could stay in the comfort of our own car.
I’m going to share everything you need to know about it below, but to sum it up, we LOVED it. The kids were so engaged, and had fun looking at all the animals like we were on a real safari in the Serengeti.

Wild Florida: Orlando Drive-Thru Safari:
Location: 3301 Lake Cypress Rd, Kenansville, FL 34739 (This was about an hour from me. It was in the St. Cloud area, so pretty close to Kissimmee)
Hours: Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Reservations can be made Monday through Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed Sundays.
How to Purchase Tickets: You can purchase tickets online, and reserve your time slot. UPDATE 3/22: Prices have dropped to $15 an adult $10 per child!
What to expect at Wild Florida Drive Thru Safari:
So we picked 2pm and arrived around 2:15pm (we’re always late), and we drove right up to the check in booth, told them our names (more than 6 feet between us so still practicing Social Distancing) and she gave us a map, and wristbands that are good for the entire day. You can keep driving in and out until park closes (at 5pm)
When you first enter, you are advised to only go 5mph, and to be aware of crossing animals. Also, you enter at your own risk. At the end of the day, these are animals so any damage done to your car is not their fault and they are not liable. However, the animals are so sweet and just mind their own business, so we weren’t even worried about that!
What Kind of Animals did we see?
There are over 100 native and exotic animals roaming freely through the 85 acres of untouched and scenic landscape, like giraffes, zebra, eland antelope, scimitar oryx, American bison, mouflon sheep, and more!
The kids’ favorites were the water buffalo and zebra!
Is there anything else to do there?
Yes, because we are all practicing Social Distancing, we did not participate in anything else, and they will be suspending the other experiences until further notice. But once reopened and once its safe to do so, you can do an airboat tour, animal encounters (like feeding a giraffe) and a gator park! Admission to the Gator Park is included in the price of our Drive thru Safari Park tickets and you’ll be ale to see an additional 200 animals, as well as a variety of animal shows. They also have a food spot you can chow down on some good BBQ once you’re all done hanging with the animals.
Would we do it again?:
YES. Because we weren’t able to do anything else, we definitely would like to come back to experience everything else Wild Florida has to offer, especially the airboat tour! But next time, I’ll wear normal clothes- I was wearing pajamas because I knew I wouldn’t get out the car.
Bottomline, I highly recommend doing this with the kids! My husband absolutely loved it, and was probably more into it than anyone else.
