10 Things I DON’T do everyday as a Stay at Home Mom

Alright, so after I posted that last post about 10 Things I do everyday as a SAHM, I had to make sure I published this one. I’m not perfect, nor do I ever portray myself to be. When I became a Stay At Home Mom, there were so many things I thought I’d do everyday, that I just don’t. I either don’t have time, or I feel like it’s a waste of time, or it’s something my husband enjoys doing.
10 Things I DON’T do everyday as a Stay at Home Mom:
- Cook Dinner: I cook dinner for everyone about 2 times a week. That’s the max! My husband LOVES to cook. It’s a hobby of his, and he finds joy in creating new recipes. Soooo why would I want to rob his joy? But when you do see me cooking, I promise you it’s because I’m cooking with HelloFresh, or my husband requested something specific for me to cook.
- Play for hours on end with my kids: There are 2 types of people in the world, ones that can play for hours on end with their kids and “lose track of time”. and then there’s me, who plays for what feels like hours but really it’s only 20 minutes lol. I will gladly get on the floor and play with them, and practice our letters and colors, and putting shapes in the bucket…but I’m not doing it for hours. This is why I had multiple kids, they can play with each other lol.
- Have play dates: I have a zillion kids, and 1 of them likes to fight. You know how nervous I am for any child that tries to play with my 2 year old, he likes to throw punches. So I rather stay home, and let my kids play with their cousins instead. It’s less stressful for everyone.
- Have brunch with my girls: I HAVE NO FRIENDS, local friends that stay home that is. My closest friends are not local to me, so there honestly isn’t anyone to have brunch with.
- Pack my husband’s lunch: I sure don’t. No particular reason, I just don’t. When I’m packing the kids’ lunches for school, ill ask him if he wants the same (PBJ, cuties oranges and teddy grahams lol), and he doesn’t want it. So I don’t make it. Plus he likes to get lunch with his coworkers, or do intermittent fasting (that’s really a thing).
- Clean bathrooms: In my last post, I share how I keep the house tidy. But that does not include the bathroom. I live with 4 boys, I REFUSE to clean up pee and dried up toothpaste. So that’s something my husband does for me.
- Wake up before my kids: Maybe this one is so hard for me because I’m up with a 6 month old 2 times a night. But in all honesty, I’ve never been a morning person. I remember as a child, my mom would dress me for school while I was STILL sleeping, because I refused to wake up. I do drink coffee to wake myself up, but you will not catch me up no more than 15 minutes before my kids wake up.
- Grocery shop during the day: We live in a time that there is Shipt, and order pick up, and I’m here for it. My 2 year old is very difficult to take out and to the store. He refuses to sit in the shopping cart. He legit turns into a monster when he sees candy, so imagine the chaos that goes down in target’s self checkout line. It’s just so much work. So I either order my groceries or I wait until my husband gets home from work, so I can have extra hands.
- Do my makeup/get dressed in normal clothes: My makeup is not cheap, why would I want to waste it for 4 kids who are just going to sneeze in my face and wipe their boogers on my cheek? Yep, that’s a hard no. Also, I live in workout clothes. I don’t actually go to the gym yet (laila is still too young for the gym daycare, one more month!!!) but I literally live in workout pants, sports bras, tanks and sneakers. When I actually put jeans on, my kids’ are all like “are we going somewhere important?” that’s sad lol.
- Make gourmet breakfasts: Pancakes? Waffles? Omelets? Not in my house, unless it’s a Saturday or someones’ birthday. We eat oatmeal or cheerios every single morning. It’s quick and filling, and best part…THE KIDS LOVE IT. Every now and then we’ll switch up the cereal to get them excited, but nothing too fancy because they’ll expect it all the time lol.
So that’s my honest reality of Stay at Home Mom life for you. I try to be as open and transparent with you all, all while encouraging you to be the best version of you.
