My New Fitness and Gym Routine
This post is sponsored by R.W. Knudsen but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.
Who did the pose better? hahah
In the last 2 months I’ve started my fitness and gym routine journey all over again. All my adult life I’ve lived a pretty active lifestyle and took going to the gym seriously. However since giving birth to Laila, and taking my business full time, I just didn’t put the time into taking care of myself. I would make up every excuse in the book to not go to the gym, and if I’m being honest, I made myself busier than what I really was. I honestly just loved the quiet time that I had at home while my husband was at the gym, because he would take all the kids with him.
But finally I stopped making excuses and just started going. I documented that moment on Instagram so my little community can hold me accountable. not that anyone really would, but because I put it out there that it was my “day one” people looked at me for inspiration, and motivation to better their health as well.
On top of doing it for my health, I’m also doing it because we are going on a cruise at the end of November. And don’t get me wrong, I’m all about #bodypositive and #selflove but I also want to feel 100% comfortable in my swimsuit, and look back at pictures and think “wow, my baby was only 1 years old and I had 4 kids. Look how in shape I was and still am”. I want to feel proud of the work, sweat and time I put into MYSELF.
So with all that said, I get asked plenty of questions about my gym and food routine. Things I’ve cut out and things I’ve now implemented into my routine. So I’m going to dump all of that info on you within this post.
My Diet
I follow a low carb and 90% dairy free diet (I just love cheese so much lol). I’m apart of a fitness program that they curate a meal plan for my body type (body fat percentage, bmi, height, weight) and overall fitness goal. For me, my fitness goal is building lean muscle. I’ve lost all the weight and I am now at my pre-pregnancy weight, like before kids-19 year old Aseky. So now I’m working on bulking up and building muscle. If you want more info on my EXACT fitness program, and how it works, DM me on instagram.
I had to cut out things.
I love sweets, like if you were to offer me a cupcake at 2 in the morning, I’d wake up and devour it. So to satisfy my sweet tooth, I take juice shots! I am loving R.W Knudsen Juices, especially the Organic Beet Juice, and the Organic Just Tart Cherry Juice. What I love about them is that it’s….
- 100% natural ingredients
- Non-GMO
- No artificial flavors or preservatives
- No added sugar
- Certified USDA organic
And after I drink it, I don’t feel guilty because I know I’m drinking only the purest and most organic ingredients.
I had to get in the habit of actually eating
As a busy mom, I always put myself on the back burner-whether it’s getting a pedicure, having me-time, or simply eating a meal. My most skipped meal is breakfast and its so important to eat a protein filled breakfast to fuel your body for the rest of the day and to jump start your metabolism. So I had to train my body to eat 3 meals a day!
My Gym Routine:

So if you’re reading this you probably have kids, so it’s very important that you find a gym that has child care, or you have reliable child care so you can make it to the gym. I’m lucky enough to have an amazing gym that has a great childcare center that the kids beg to go to!
When my husband and I go to the gym we normally spend about an hour to hour and a half, but we are able to get it all in. and I always start my workout by warming up, which is running 2 miles. You don’t have to do that, but It gets me pumped and ready for my work out. Also, it works out my legs, so on a non leg day, I’m still getting my leg workout done somehow.
Monday: Chest and ab day
Tuesday: Back day
Wednesday: Bicep day
Thursday: Leg day
Friday: MIX day: I go by myself in the morning, and run 3 miles, followed by an ab workout, and a mix of back and chest.
Saturday: REST
Sunday: REST
So there we have it, this was a little summary of my new and healthy lifestyle! It was all baby steps and I’m still learning and adjusting, but I’m thankful for R.W Knudsen for making the transition easier and tastier.
