RJ’s Pokemon Themed 8th Birthday Party

OMG, RJ really just turned 8. I cannot even believe it!! RJ is obsessed with Pokemon, I mean completely obsessed! That’s all he wants to watch, all he wants to play with and of course how he wanted his birthday to be decorated-a Pokemon themed birthday party. Now when he said Pokemon birthday I was not the least bit surprised, but somewhat annoyed because c’mon Pokemon is not cute LOL -being honest here. How was I going to pull this off without it looking super tacky and not like aisle 4 at Party City. Nothing wrong with party city now, but when it comes to birthday parties- I just like to be extra. I spend months planning so it can look like a fully done up soiree. But the only problem, I didn’t plan for that this year because obviously 2020 was just a weird year for all of us. So I hired help!!!

I hired Movage Events and Lush Creations and Decor to plan every single thing! All I did was tell them the theme RJ wanted, a few of his favorite pokemons, and let them do everything else! These ladies are creative queens. Not once have they done an event that isn’t Kardashian standards.

All about RJ’s Pokemon Themed Birthday party:

Venue

Reunion Resort: This is where we had Laila’s birthday party last year, and RJ specifically requested the same thing for his party this year. We love having birthday celebrations at Reunion because their homes are so spacious. The exact home we stayed in was the “Homestead Juniper” and it was close to 7000 square feet with 7 bedrooms, 2 masters, a movie room a game room, and a private pool. What I love about homes in the Reunion neighborhood is that they all have a pool and some sort of outdoor kitchen. So our little water loving babies and grill master hubby always have a great time when we go, as does our friends and family who come out. Also, plenty of them have themed rooms-the kids had an entire Mickey bunk room! And you also can’t forget the waterpark which is at the resort! We didnt get a chance to go, but it looked amazing!!

Food

We had rice and beans, meatblls, and of course BBQ, with fruit and veggie platters. Normally we like to cater from local spanish grocery stores because its just so much easier, but moms to the rescue, my mom offered to make her famous coconut rice (where I get the recipe from) and cook for the whole party.

Decor

So I gave Movage Events a theme, which was Pokemon and told them the layout of the house, where I wanted them to set up because we did Laila’s party at the same time. And they did their magic and put together a mock up drawing design of it all with some Inspo shots and I was blown away.

The took care of everything, from finding the bakers for the cake and for the cookies, to ordering everything I need, to the goodie bags. They got it all, I literally did nothing lol. So I take no credit in all of this, i’m just putting together the blog post sharing it all.  So back to the decor, they showed up to the vacation home early in the morning the day of the party and got right to work. From start to finish for both RJ’s decor and Laila’s was about 5 hours. But after seeing the end results, I couldn’t believe it. And RJ loved it. In the middle of his party he came to me and said “mommy, thank you for doing this for me. I love it”. And then my heart bursted and melted!! How sweet is my boy?
